By assembling the Millennium Puzzle that he found among his grandfather's games, Yugi broke the seal of Yami, who now occupies his body as his alter ego. Yugi is generally meek, yet brave to the point of selflessness when it comes to protecting that which is dear to him. He is also extremely kind, forgiving any villain, and believing in their better side. His deep benevolence becomes Yami's backbone when the two come together with a common purpose. Yugi lacks confidence and has a habit of fading into the backround, letting Yami take the lead. But nevertheless he's a superb Duelist with a very sharp eye and excellent tactical abilities.
